A stroll from Ikebukuro 2nd May 2019 part one, out past the park.

On a mission to visit the graves of Lafcadio Hearn (known in Japan as Koizumi Yakumo) and Natsume Soseki, both great authors and both buried in Zoshigaya cemetery, we took the train to Ikebukuro station and set off on foot to explore the streets leading to the cemetery.
Outside the station are the busy and colourful shopping and entertainment areas of Ikebukuro but it's just a short walk to the quieter backstreets where we passed parks, small shrines and a temple.
