Beautiful Bee Orchids, Minchinhampton Common, Cotswolds 17/06/2012

It was great to find more Bee Orchids in flower this year than last and that there were some larger and healthier specimens about . They really are amazing, colourful and detailed flowers for something so small. Please click on the photos once and then a second time to see them in full quality.

Reading about them I like the following line.
" Pollen transfer occurs during the ensuing pseudocopulation".
